Tudor House recently received a $22,300 grant from the Foundation's A. Anson and Theresa G. Jamison Fund and Community Catalyst Funds to support its Comfort Bag Program for individuals seeking psychiatric care at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
"Tudor House is extremely grateful to Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia for their support of our suicide prevention initiative, the Comfort Bag Program. This innovative program will directly serve the mental health needs of patients admitted to Carilion’s ER for psychiatric care. Carilion admits 15 patients a day who may wait 20+ hours in the ER for inpatient psychiatric placement. These bags of carefully chosen items will provide comfort, support, and distraction during a critical time of need for these patients. After conducting a successful pilot of the program in November 2024, Tudor House will officially launch the Comfort Bag Program in January 2025, in part due to this generous funding."
