SUMMARY:NPO CONNECT MAY MEETING - Virtual Donor-Driven\, Mission-True Fundraising in a Post COVID-19 World!
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our virtual NPO CONNECT May meeting. We will hear from Fundraising Specialist\, Dr. John Curtis. This highly relevant and timely session on major gifts fundraising will cover new ground and provide specific strategies to leverage this era of social isolation.  \nLET’S TALK ABOUT: \nDonor-Driven\, Mission-True Fundraising in a post COVID-19 world! \nREGISTER HERE \n\n\nMost nonprofits know their fundraising will be impacted by COVID-19 but few know exactly how to respond. The pandemic comes during a time when many nonprofits had ramped up their fundraising efforts to cash in on the record levels of charitable giving. Worst still\, is if your fundraising is based on events that are now off limits due to social distancing.  This highly relevant and timely session on major gifts fundraising will cover new ground and provide specific strategies to leverage this era of social isolation for those nonprofits who want to be proactive. You will learn why a “Culture of Philanthropy” drives successful fundraising… but this culture cannot be mandated. Great fundraising nonprofits are not born\, they’re built and this session will teach you how! \nYou will learn:   \n1. How to elevate the Board and staff’s competency in fundraising and their role in your campaign \n2. Demystify how to find new donors and new dollars in Western Virginia \n3. Five steps to raising major gifts that work in an era of social isolation \n4. How to design and host highly impactful “virtual” fundraising events  \nNonprofit staff and board members are welcome.  \nSpeaker: \n\n \nJohn Curtis\, Ph.D. founded IOD\, Inc. in 1986 and he has 30+ years of experience providing a wide array of capacity building and fundraising consulting services to nonprofit organizations of all types and sizes. He also teaches fundraising\, strategic planning\, board development\, and change management for the Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy at Rollins College in Florida\, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits and the Duke Nonprofit Management Program in North Carolina and Virginia.

SUMMARY:Presented by Crescendo Interactive- CARES Act Saves 100\,000 Nonprofits
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nOn March 27\, 2020\, Congress and the President enacted the Coronavirus Aid\, Relief\, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act\, H. R. 748). The $2 trillion CARES Act provides massive relief for individuals\, businesses\, medical centers and nonprofits. The “Paycheck Protection Program Loans” (PPP Loans) are potentially able to save over 100\,000 nonprofits from closing their doors.\nThe National Council of Nonprofits reports that over half of nonprofits have just one month of cash reserves. Fortunately\, the PPP Loans will provide these nonprofits with loan-grants to cover eight weeks of payroll\, benefits\, rent or mortgage interest and utilities. The eight week grants are likely to save at least 100\,000 nonprofits who would otherwise close their doors.

We will hear from Jeanne Newby\, VP of People and Culture at Valley Star Credit Union. The workshop will focus on important steps that successful team leaders use in order to create an engaged workplace and achieve lasting results. Coffee and donuts will be provided. We hope to see you there!  \nLET’S TALK ABOUT: Team Building  \nAre your employees engaged\, do they have fun at work\, and is your team achieving the desired results? In this session\, we will talk about the Results Pyramid1 and how focusing on creating positive experiences with your employees can impact results.  We will discuss five steps successful team leaders use to create an engaged workplace and achieve results. We will look at team building exercises and events that can build positive experiences and trust. Besides being fun and energizing\, your employees will get to see co-workers in new and exciting ways.  For example\, Ann in accounting will no longer just be the relentless voice on the phone asking for the monthly numbers. She will also be seen as the mother of a cute 5-year-old who shares your love of scary movies. Ann will become more than just an accountant. Personal bonds will be formed.   You will leave this session with creative ideas and tools to plan a memorable team building event that will drive results and enhance relationships. \nNonProfit staff and board members are welcome. Space is limited.  \nCOST: FREE!  Please note that if you register and are unable to make the networking event\, you will need to let Foundation staff know immediately so that others may participate. Registrants who do not show will automatically be added to the wait list for the next networking meeting. \nSpeaker:  \n \nJeanne Newby is a Human Resource professional with more than twenty years of corporate human resource\, training\, and talent management experience. Witnessing firsthand the power and purpose of fundraising in serving the greater good\, she was deeply moved by the generosity and commitment of donors who believed in something greater than themselves. For Kim\, this was philanthropy at its finest\, and it sparked her passion for charitable work and a life of service. That fire’s been burning ever since. \nWith nearly three decades of experience in nonprofit development and administration\, Kim provided senior level leadership for four capital campaigns and led development departments ranging in size from one to 35 staff members in higher education\, K-12 private education\, healthcare\, human services and arts/culture. Her first-hand\, been-there done-that experiences give her the perspective and confidence that clients have come to value and trust. \nWhen she is not working\, Kim enjoys quality time with her husband\, family\, and friends. She serves on various community boards\, volunteers at her church\, and loves to travel. Most recently she enjoyed a life changing pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan\, which she hopes was the first of many spiritual adventures to the Holy Land!
